April 2026 News and Events

Date Published

April is here, which means disc golf league season has officially begun! And kick it off we did with Thursday Random Doubles, which started on April 2nd and Weekend League which started on April 4th. Women's league will start up at the end of April, on Monday the 27th, so look forward to that!

Weekend League

Weekend League happens every Saturday and Sunday (except some days that are reserved for events such as the. upcoming C-Tier flex tournament and Forest City Open). Check in between 9:30 - 9:45 AM. Tee off at 10:00 AM. Cost is $4 per event (or you can get a Season Pass -- see below for more details).

With the new season comes some new format changes. Let's go over them now.

Divisions

Weekend League introduced skill divisions this year. We have 6 divisions -- 1,2,3,4,Women, and Jr. Divisions 1-4 function effectively like a mixed open of different skill levels 1 being the "Pro" division, 2 being Advanced (think MA2), 3, Intermediate (think MA3), and 4 being beginner (think MA4). All divisions use the same course layout, so you do not have to be in the same division to play on the same card.

Each division has its own tag pool, so you can compete for the #1 tag with similarly matched players. When checking into a weekend league event with UDisc, you are free to choose whichever division you like, and you do not have to commit to one division. You can switch between divisions at will if you think another one is a better fit for your skill level. Keep in mind, however, that when you switch divisions, you give up your tag from the previous division. You'll be assigned a new tag for the new division.

Digital Tags

For Weekend League this year we're going digital for tags, which allows tags to expire and be reclaimed if players take extended time away from the league. After league finals, LDGA members will get physical tags to represent their final tag standing.

Digital tags work pretty much the same way as physical tags: every time you play, your tag goes into the pool of available tags for that division and when you are done, tags are exchanged from that pool. The main difference is that digital tags can expire. So if you have a low tag, you have to defend it within 3 weeks otherwise it also goes back into the pool of available tags at the next event.

After an event is over, you'll be able to see your tag number on the UDisc leaderboard and at www.ldga.ca/events (this is a manual data entry update, so you may not see it right away).

Now that we've had 4 events in April, here is the current full tag standings:

Weekend League Season Pass

We've also introduced the Weekend League Season Pass, which is a great deal if you are planning on playing more than 15 weekend league event. With close to 60 sessions from April until November, you'll have plenty of opportunities to play 15+ times. It also includes League Finals in on November 7th.

Becoming an LDGA Member

Don't see your name or tag on the bag tag leaderboard? You might not be an LDGA Member. You need to be a member to get a tag, and this year you'll also receive a swanky hot/cold insulated water bottle as the LDGA membership merch item. If you haven't received one yet, you can pick it up during weekend league.

Becoming an LDGA member supports disc golf in London. You can become a member for $40/year by signing up on Disc Golf Scene using this link, or talking to your league coordinators if you prefer to pay cash.

Website

This is a great time to remind you that we now have an events calendar at www.ldga.ca/events, where we already have this year's league events set up from now until the end of November as well as upcoming tournaments. You can plan your season around it. Some dates may change depending on future event schedules, but we will be sure to update it accordingly.

Do you also like to see how your friends are doing? This year, we are also running Thursday Random Doubles through UDisc, and we've integrated the leaderboards with our website. Weekly leaderboards will be shown at www.ldga.ca/leagues, as well as information about when they are happening so you don't miss a league!

Updates

A few other notes worth mentioning:

- League President Paddy McCormack has been having some production conversations with the city. We're looking at getting a storage container on site at St. Julien so that we can have the tools we need for course maintenance, etc. ready at hand. We're continuing to push for tree removal for the broken trees and the pile of logs around the berm on hole 4.

- There's also currently some large items neatly collected near the tee of hole 4. The city is aware of this, and are making arrangements for getting it removed.

- In March, the city had to make some emergency repairs to the sewer line under the berm that runs between Hole 3 and Hole 4. A downed tree on Hole 3 ripped a hole in the pipe and needed to be replaced. This work has been wrapped up, along with the removal of a number of downed trees, making the holes more playable. Hole 4 is definitely a lot more open after the December 26 ice storm.
